RIM to sell corporate jet as part of plan to save $1 billion

According to Bloomberg, RIM, the Blackberry maker that has lost 95% of it’s market share since 2008, is set to sell one of it’s corporate jets as part of it’s cost cutting efforts. The sale of the nine passenger Dassualt Aviation SA F50EX plane is expected to bring in between 6-7 million dollars. In a statement to Bloomberg, RIM stated, “It’s all part of the effort to find ways to reduce costs and drive efficiencies that Thorsten Heins has talked about.” The other parts of that plan included the cutting of 5,000 jobs or a third of RIM’s workforce and the reduction of the company’s manufacturing sites.
